1. About Garden & Pantry

Garden & Pantry is an independently operated website created by Elle and Mike. We publish gardening, harvesting, food-preservation, seasonal-recipe and related educational content based on firsthand experience and research.

Mike is a certified Master Gardener. Elle grew up around farming and gardening on Mactan Island in the Philippines. Their experience does not replace advice from your local extension service or another qualified professional familiar with your specific situation.

2. Educational information only

Content on Garden & Pantry is provided for general educational and informational purposes. It is not individualized horticultural, agricultural, medical, nutritional, veterinary, legal, financial or other professional advice.

Gardening results vary according to climate, weather, soil, plant variety, pests, equipment, timing and individual practices. Information based on our Zone 8b waterfront garden may need to be adjusted for your location.

You are responsible for evaluating whether information on this website is appropriate for your circumstances.

3. Food-preservation and recipe safety

Food safety depends on ingredients, preparation, equipment, altitude, storage conditions and the preservation method used.

When canning or otherwise preserving food, use current tested instructions from authoritative sources such as the National Center for Home Food Preservation, the United States Department of Agriculture or a university extension program.

Do not change processing times, acidity, ingredient proportions or equipment requirements in a tested preservation recipe unless an authoritative source states that the change is safe.

You are responsible for checking ingredients for allergies, intolerances, medication interactions and other individual health concerns.

4. Plant and product safety

Correctly identify any plant before eating, applying or otherwise using it. Do not rely solely on a photograph, automated identification tool or general website description when safety is uncertain.

Always read and follow product labels, equipment instructions and applicable laws. Keep tools, chemicals, supplements, plants and preserved foods away from children and animals when appropriate.

5. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the original text, photographs, graphics, downloadable resources, branding and other content published by Garden & Pantry are owned by or licensed to Garden & Pantry and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
